Today we handed a letter to the office of the Selangor Environment EXCO YB Hee Loy Sian requesting for an urgent meeting to resolve the issue of encroachment of Bukit Cherakah Forest Reserve (BCFR), where the Shah Alam Community Forest is located.
In his statement on 24th Sept, YB Hee said that the forest in question has been degazetted, citing document no.PW1443. However from our investigation, this document is merely a map and not proof of degazettement.
The legal status of BCFR needs to be addressed urgently before more virgin rainforest is destroyed. We urge for a stop-work order on all construction in this forest area until the issue is resolved.
