The survey intended to gauge the demographics of visitors to the forest, why they visit and what can be done to save our forest.

The survey result is very encouraging as a resounding 100% of the 124 visitors surveyed agreed that we should save this forest. More than 80% of them explore the forest with their friends and family, with 40% visiting weekly to exercise by hiking, running or cycling their mountain bikes.

More than 70% hopes for more activities to garner awareness and to ramp up media publicity. They would also readily participate in community activities like group hikes, trail runs and educational nature walks in the forest.

Overall, the results will be beneficial towards the society’s planning towards engaging the public and building their affinity towards nature especially in the Global Environment Facility/Small Grants Programme (GEF/SGP) project implemented by the United Nations Development Programme.

The Shah Alam Community Forest Society conducted a survey during the Open Day held on 28th July 2019.
